Having retired as the Director of Strategy & Innovation at Centric, a prominent Dutch IT company, he dedicated the last decade to extensive research and analysis in this domain. In 2009, he achieved his Ph.D. from the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University), showcasing his commitment to advancing knowledge.

In 2013, Prof. Dr. Ben van Lier was appointed as a Professor at Steinbeis University Berlin, where he continues his research alongside his roles at Centric.
